Welcome to the SVI Archive and Data Mart, part of the broader Data Rebellion Project. In response to increasing threats to public access to essential public health data, we’ve taken action to preserve, protect, and promote datasets that matter—starting with the Social Vulnerability Index (SVI).

Why This Archive Exists

This data comes from the CDC’s Social Vulnerability Index, a critical resource that was previously available through the CDC’s website before it was taken down. While we are not the creators of this data, our goal is to ensure that this invaluable resource remains accessible to researchers, community organizations, policymakers, and anyone dedicated to health equity and social justice.

A Quick Heads-Up

Our servers are designed to handle a wide range of requests, but you might notice occasional slowdowns during periods of high usage. If demand increases, we’ll scale up to faster, more robust servers to ensure quick, reliable access. Thank you for your patience and support as we grow.

How to Use the SVI Data Mart

  1. Filter Your Search: Use the filters to narrow down datasets by Year, Location, Geography Type (e.g., Census Tracts, Counties, limited Zip Codes), and File Type (CSV, ESRI based ZIP files).
  2. Download Data: Click the download button for your selected file. If the download takes a moment, don’t worry—our servers are working to generate a secure link.
  3. Analyze & Apply: The data is formatted for easy integration into statistical software, GIS platforms, and research tools.
  4. Check out the Data Dictionaries: While we don’t have a comprehensive list of data dictionaries, we were able to grab a few.

Spread the Word

We believe in the power of data to drive change. Please share this resource widely with colleagues, researchers, community organizations, and advocates who can benefit from it.
